PERMACULTURE

What is Permaculture?

Permaculture is simply the art of living in harmony and collaboration with nature. It is the answer to a sustainable future.

Permaculture was created and developed in Australia in the 70s. Bill Mollison and David Holmgren developed a way to design sustainable systems in every inhabited region of Earth.

In comparison to conventional agriculture which erodes soils, relies heavily on external fertilizers, uses biocides or pesticides and contributes majorly to global warming, permaculture imitates natural ecosystems, reducing the needs for other resources and avoids synthetic fertilizers and biocides. These makes it definitely one of the best answers for a sustainable future.

And it’s not just agriculture

Apart from agriculture, permaculture can be also used to design sustainable buildings. We can build houses and create communities, drastically reducing the environmental impact at the same time. The best part is that it can be used by anyone, anywhere in the world.

It’s time to think about the way we use our resources – food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs. By working with nature rather than battling against it, we can truly learn to be more productive for less effort. It will be simple to reap benefits for ourselves and our environment, for now, and for generations to come.

“Permaculture”, originally “Permanent Agriculture” has developed into a whole design philosophy of life for millions of people around the world today. They use it to grow food, repair damage land and create a sustainable future.
